Moritz Jacobi

After completing his studies in cultural anthropology and Southeast Asian studies, Moritz Jacobi began traveling across the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian archipelago as a writer. He has since been drawn back to the region time and again by his fascination with it, zigzagging the region in longboats, rickshaws, and rickety buses. The colorful melting pot of Malaysians, the hospitality and warmth of the Javanese, the scenic beauty of Sumatra, and the diversity of Southeast Asia's island world have spurred his professional interest for decades. From Sumatra to Flores, from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan, Moritz Jacobi researches and updates travel content for various print editions, climbing volcanoes on Sumatra or hiking to remote villages in the heart of Borneo. Together with his team of co-authors, he received the ITB Book Award for the Stefan Loose Travel Guide Indonesia, as well as for the Stefan Loose Travel Guide Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei.
