Fareeda Bakori Umar

F. Bakori is a Nigerian writer, poet, and advocate for healing through storytelling. A survivor of abuse, loss, and emotional silencing, she draws from the rawest parts of her life to give voice to the stories many are forced to bury. Orphaned at a young age, and having experienced the devastating loss of children, Bakori’s writing is deeply personal, woven with courage, tenderness, and an unflinching honesty. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to truth, cultural memory, and resonates with those who have lived through pain in silence, and with those who long to understand it. Whether through memoir or poetry, F. Bakori writes to remind readers that breaking is not the end, and that there is strength in every story told. She is also the founder of GAPEEWY, a grassroots initiative focused on empowering women and youth, and actively engaged in drug abuse prevention across local communities.

When she is not writing, she continues to pursue her postgraduate studies and remains a firm believer in the healing power of words and authentic expression.
