Mark Prime

Mark Prime writes about the things that last.

His first love is history — especially local history. Through the Staffordshire Chronicles, he traces the lives of ordinary families across centuries, uncovering the names that built towns, shaped streets, and quietly held communities together.

While researching those families, one thing kept standing out: names matter.

That curiosity grew into the I Am series, a collection of keepsake books exploring the origins, meaning, and lived character of women’s names. Each book is rooted in etymology and history, but written to honour the real women who carry those names today.

The Manual series approaches men’s names with the same respect, but in a more practical, grounded voice — reflecting the different ways identity is often expressed and understood.

His Chronicles series for children carries the idea forward. A baby’s name is often chosen with hope, memory, and intention. These books explore that inheritance — the story a name carries before a child even begins to write their own.

Across every series, Mark’s work centres on continuity rather than fashion. On family rather than fame. On the belief that ordinary lives, lived steadily, are what shape the world.
