Hilal Ergül

Hilal Ergül, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and TESOL, as well as the Coordinator of TESOL Programs at the University of Northern Iowa. She teaches courses in language acquisition, sociolinguistics, and grammar at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, while also overseeing various graduate research projects. Her research interests include second language acquisition and pragmatics, with a particular focus on oral corrective feedback in language classrooms, smiling, and mitigation. Dr. Ergül is currently studying Korean and trying to summon the courage to tackle Chinese.
