Spencer Hazel is a social interaction researcher with a background in the arts. He started out working a range of jobs in theatre, including writing for and performing with companies such as Frantic Assembly, Boilerhouse Theatre and the BBC.
He is currently Reader in Applied Linguistics & Communication at Newcastle University, where he carries out research on a wide range of topics, including Conversational AI agents, international workplace interaction, communication involving people living with dementia, classroom interaction, language policy, and collaborative arts practice.
