Mrs. JoAnn Comer-Conwell

Mrs. JoAnn Comer-Conwell is a faith-filled author, garden educator, and nonprofit leader based in Burlington, New Jersey. Her work focuses on sustainable food growing, ethical gardening systems, and senior-friendly garden design that supports long-term community food access.

Through her writing and hands-on garden work, JoAnn teaches accessible garden systems that allow people to grow real food even when land, finances, health, or physical strength are limited. Her books reflect a values-driven approach to gardening rooted in stewardship, integrity, and faith-centered wisdom.

JoAnn is the founder of Grateful Hearts Givings NJ Nonprofit, a community-based organization dedicated to feeding senior citizens and underserved individuals with dignity and compassion. Each book she writes supports this nonprofit mission and helps fund ethical food growing and community food distribution efforts.

Married to her husband, Michael L. Conwell, whom she credits as her steady support and encourager, JoAnn lives a life grounded in service. Beyond writing, she enjoys tea blending, nature walks, and designing gardens ranging from simple container plantings to full-scale community food gardens.

Her work is guided by her favorite scripture, Matthew 25:31–46, which fuels her calling to serve the forgotten and love others as Christ loves us.
