Katherine Wilcox Carter

Katie Wilcox Carter is a Virginia-based family law attorney with more than a decade in practice representing women only – something that often shocks and surprises people.

“Why on earth would you choose to represent women only? Is that even allowed?”

Two abusive relationships ultimately brought Katie to the ‘woman-only’ practice of law back in 2011. The first was the marriage of a member of Katie’s extended family. As a child, Katie – like many annoying and precocious children the world over – dreamed of being an attorney, mostly so that she could preside over the divorce action between the two. (They’re still unhappily married, and Katie is, fortunately for all, both older and wiser than this today.)

Today, Katie works full time as an attorney and Director of Marketing at Hofheimer Family Law Firm in Virginia Beach, Virginia and – in her spare time – runs ‘Your Girlfriend Needs a Divorce,’ a woman-centric social media presence focused on providing divorce and custody information with pages across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.

Katie is a married mother of two young children and one insane Labrador retriever. She and her family live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
