Gary Rose

Dr. Gary J. Rose has lived the kind of life most thriller writers only imagine.

A decorated police detective and elite undercover team leader, he was twice named Milpitas Police Officer of the Year and resolved nine hostage crises without a single casualty. His firsthand experience with criminal behavior, investigation, and human psychology fuels the realism of his Jeannie Loomis: FBI Agent thriller series.

After retiring from law enforcement, Gary turned to education, teaching at-risk youth and earning honors that included Teacher of the Year and the deeply meaningful Teacher Who Makes a Difference award. Of the former students he worked with, 92% never returned to the justice system.

A historian as well as a novelist, Gary is also the creator of the I Witness History series, including the popular I Witness History (Short) books. Written for younger readers, teachers, parents, and general history enthusiasts, the series explores major historical events by going beyond the familiar version of the story and asking a simple question: What really happened?

Gary is also a multi-optioned screenwriter whose work spans numerous genres, including thrillers, horror, historical drama, war, suspense, and action. Two of his current screenplays are in pre-production, continuing his expansion from page to screen.

His published work ranges from crime thrillers and historical fiction to horror and nonfiction, including the Jeannie Loomis novels, The Haunting of Alcatraz, Mackay-Bennett: Ship of the Dead – After Titanic, and a growing collection of I Witness History titles covering some of the most dramatic events and people in history.

Whether he is writing about an FBI investigation, a haunted place, a historical tragedy, or a story being developed for film, Gary brings the perspective of a police officer, educator, historian, screenwriter, and storyteller to every project.

For Gary J. Rose, history and suspense share one thing in common: the truth is rarely as simple as the story we first hear.

I think this is now the strongest version because it presents the screenwriting career as a current professional achievement, not merely another creative interest.
