Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mike Wylie is the co-founder of Worthington Publishing, a company dedicated to crafting immersive war and family board games. With a career rooted as a senior leader with the military and and Department of Homeland Security, Mike brings deep strategic insight and historical knowledge to every design. Over the past two decades, he has designed and published more than 100 games, many of which have earned acclaim for their accessible mechanics and thoughtful themes.
When the 2020 pandemic disrupted traditional game publishing, he pivoted to innovate once again—creating the Original Bookgame series, a line of solitaire board game experiences in book format. These games offered players an engaging and meaningful pastime during lockdowns and continue to grow in popularity.
Today, Mike's creative passion lies in exploring artificial intelligence within game systems, building challenging AI opponents that provide meaningful solo play. Outside of publishing, he enjoys life with his wife Debbie in the house they built together early in their marriage. With their two adult children living nearby, he spends time golfing, canoeing, hiking, biking, and—of course—playing games.
Mike is committed to designing games that are not only entertaining but also spark curiosity about military history, strategy, and the human stories behind great conflicts.
