H.L Janpol's most recent academic position has been as Adjunct Professor with the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography at Nova Southeastern University where he has taught a graduate course for Marine Biology and Oceanography grad students. The course title is Marine Environments: Psychological Dimensions. He served as a research assistant on several projects at Oregon State University Marine Science Center from the 1970s thru the 1990s involving the development and testing of radio and satellite tags for marine mammals at Oregon State University Marine Science Center. He has provided data analysis on several research projects involving tracking of marine mammals. He has provided consultation services for marine environmental conservation organizations including the Hawaii Humpback Whale Sanctuary Advisory Council.
