Helen Billett

Helen Billett is a Canadian artist and writer whose work explores themes of resilience, transformation, and healing. Raised in Bramalea (Brampton), her love for books was first nurtured at the Brampton Public Library’s Chinguacousy Branch, where she worked during high school.

She later studied Art History and Studio Art at the University of Western Ontario, gaining early experience in commercial art galleries before moving into Digital Media Design. This led her to a role as a Senior Web Designer at Canada’s largest bookstore, where she brought together creative vision and technical skill.

After the birth of her second child, a daughter followed by a son, Helen stepped away from the corporate world to raise her family in the Beaches, Toronto. During that time, she returned to her visual art practice, exhibiting locally and participating in the Beach Studio Tour. Her artwork has been licensed for retail, featured on television, and displayed in the first Big Brother Canada house.

Eventually, life events and the need for healing led her to pause her creative work. Now living in Scarborough, she has re-emerged with a renewed creative voice. Her debut poetry collection, Cliffs and Cathedrals: Poems from the Precipice of Healing, traces her personal journey through trauma toward joy.

Through both writing and visual art, Helen’s work is a quiet testament to the transformative power of creativity.
