Aricia Symes

Aricia Symes was born in New England as the only girl of five kids. As a child, she was a self-proclaimed tomboy, mucking around on her family’s farm in overalls and work boots and roughhousing with her brothers. Today, she’s the founder and master stylist of Unfoldid, a personal styling company that prioritizes personal wellbeing. When people ask her, “How did you get to be so stylish?!” she tells them: “I learned it.” Aricia believes that anyone can learn the foundations of style and has dedicated her career to helping people from all walks of life master the art and science of style.

Before founding Unfoldid in 2010, Aricia got her foot in the door of the fashion industry working for an international shoe company in

Asia. She maintained a focus on fashion while employed as a consul- tant for Ernst & Young in Vienna, Austria. Her international experi- ences continue to inform her work as a stylist today. Ultimately, her love of fashion motivated her to get into styling, a field where she could work closely with people, exercise her creativity, and balance her family life. She learned the ins and outs of styling and coloring from established experts in the field, like Paula Slattery and Stacy London. Using what she’d learned, she developed the objective elements ofher own Style Formula, a tool people can use to identify their Style Identity—or Style ID.

Today, Aricia has finetuned that Style Formula to a science, which she teaches not only to individual clients but also to larger groups through speaking engagements and courses. With this book, she brings her teachings to a wider audience, encouraging all of her readers to unfold their Style ID.

Aricia holds a double degree in International Business and Asian Studies from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She currently lives in the Boston area with her husband, three children, and dog.
