Charles Gonzales was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where he spent 26 years balancing life between trailer park poverty and the rugged beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. After earning a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alaska, he shifted from a planned career in law enforcement to opening a personal training studio and CrossFit box.
Writing became an emotional outlet for Charles after losing his father in 2022, leading to his debut memoir, The Last Alaskan Mexican. A heartfelt collection of 42 stories captures his unique experiences growing up as a Mexican-American in Alaska, reflecting on fatherhood, identity, and heritage. His narrative blends humor, heartache, and life lessons, evoking deep emotional connections with readers. Outside of writing, Charles enjoys playing guitar, staying active at the gym, running, and exploring food carts with his three boys. His goal with this first book is to "bring a tear and a smile to a million faces."
