An Arizonan born in Illinois, I do finally love it here. Having started both writing and art from childhood, I usually create something every day. My memoir CLOUD COVER, holds the truth of my life, with drama, humor and much inquiry. It took six years to write and a couple more to make it real. When I am not writing, I turn to canvas using oil or acrylic with lots of color, painting what I see, or want to see. A few of these pieces may be seen or purchased from allartwors.com, a gallery in Grand Rapids, MI.
My college major was English with a minor in art.Two years of graduate work in art, drawing and intaglio came later. I taught English to high school sophomores and ESL to their parents after classes in evenings.
I wrote CLOUD COVER, not just for myself, but to heal the adult kids who were neglected, abused or just ignored. Although stories of sadness start the book, the voice of a child leads the reader through topics of familly, race, religion, feminism and attempts to understand death.
