Jeanne Donovan

Jeanne Donovan is an author, songwriter, and independent recording artist whose work explores history, family, faith, geology, and the resilience of the human spirit. Whether writing books or composing music, she is drawn to stories that preserve overlooked lives, illuminate forgotten ideas, and encourage hope, reflection, and compassion.

Her first book, Wounded Wings: One Man's Secret Struggle, written with her half-brother Ronald I. Johnson and published by TCU Press, tells the life story of her brother Gilbert Johnson. Gifted, adventurous, and endlessly curious, Gilbert pursued journalism, martial arts, falconry, and world travel while privately battling the lifelong effects of severe childhood abuse. The book serves as both a tribute to his life and a resource for families, caregivers, therapists, and survivors seeking a deeper understanding of childhood trauma and its lasting effects.

Beyond writing, Jeanne composes original music inspired by history, science, nature, and quiet reflection, believing that stories can be told as powerfully through music as through words.

She lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with her husband, retired geology professor Raymond Nowell Donovan. Together they continue to explore history, science, and the remarkable stories hidden within the natural world.
