By day, Francois Luks is a Pediatric Surgeon at Hasbro Children's and Professor of Surgery at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After hours, he teaches a course in medical illustration to Brown undergrads and students at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), leads workshops in medical illustration for medical students, residents and faculty, and runs a workshop on medical comics. "MedSpeak Illuminated: The art and practice of medical illustration" dives deeper in the wonderful world of visual communication. In a previous life, he drew daily comic strips and weekly children's cartoons for several newspapers in Belgium (his native country) - "What's in this tree" is his first foray into arboreal creatures. He finds the time to do all this because he doesn't play pickleball.
