Rachel Fox McLeod is an award-winning fiction writer and screenwriter. A former entertainment journalist, pop vocalist, and recipient of both the Josephine Ulrick Literature Prize and the GREW Prize for Fiction, her projects often straddle fiction and film & television, with credits including Mako Mermaids, Wanted, and The Bachelor.
A voracious reader, who still checks the back of wardrobes for Narnia (just in case), Rachel grew up on film sets in London in the 1980s—her family worked on such films as 'Star Wars', 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', 'Superman', 'Labyrinth', and more. She’s been fascinated by stories and how to breathe them into life ever since.
She is passionate about storytelling, taking her philosophy from writer, Anais Nin ~ “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect." Rachel is also committed to writing powerful and often hilarious stories for and about women and is allergic to the phrase 'strong female lead'… give her ‘complex, flawed, and messy’ any day of the week.
You can find her living in a cute city apartment with her books and daydreams for company—mostly dreams of wandering the Scottish Highlands or being a pop star (although, let's face it, that ship has probably sailed). She loves tattoos, hot yoga, the F word, and cheese. Mostly the cheese comes first.
Rachel also writes across genres under the pseudonym, Ruby Fox. Connect with her on social media @therealzerofox (Instagram, TikTok and BlueSky), @realzerofox (Facebook).
