Hello! I'm Thomas J. Ridley — travel guide author, lifelong explorer, and proud grandfather. At 65, I've been lucky enough to spend over four decades wandering this beautiful planet, from the bustling souks of Marrakech to the quiet fjords of Norway, and just about everywhere in between.

Travel has always been more than a profession for me — it's a passion rooted in curiosity, human connection, and the joy of discovering the unexpected. Over the years, I've written guides for solo backpackers, family adventurers, and cultural deep-divers alike, always with the goal of making travel more accessible, meaningful, and memorable.

I still travel regularly — my backpack may be a little lighter these days, but my sense of wonder has only grown. When I'm not on the road, you’ll usually find me back home with my wonderful wife of 40 years, our garden full of grandkids playing under the sun, and a mug of strong coffee as I plan the next adventure.
