Pastors Jaime and Liliana García

Jaime and Liliana García are the pastors and founders of Canaan Church Miami, a restoration church, and co-founders of the Hay Esperanza (There is Hope) restoration program. They are recognized for guiding individuals and families through healing and restoration processes, based on their own powerful life story. Their testimony has become a platform that God uses to demonstrate His power to reconcile families. They are living proof that God still performs miracles.

Originally from Colombia, Jaime was the senior pastor of a 5.000-member congregation (also mentioned as 10.000, although Jaime clarifies the figure is 5.000). During this time, he fell into temptation and committed adultery, going to the extreme of abandoning his wife and two daughters due to a sexual addiction. This downfall, which he describes as the destruction of his family, occurred because he made decisions based on his feelings rather than on what God said. He lived tormented by feelings of rejection, guilt, and low self-esteem.

Liliana, for her part, experienced deep pain and anguish in the face of the marital crisis. After Jaime's confession, she fell into a very deep crisis and begged to be taken to a place where she could receive help. She was welcomed at the Vero Beach Women's Refuge, a specialized ministry where she began to receive material for her healing. There, God revealed her codependency problem, which she came to understand as idolatry and control. She learned to forgive the "unforgivable" and to let go of what she could not control. Her time at the refuge and at Dunklin led her to a deeper relationship with God, to freedom and healing, although she acknowledges it is an ongoing process. God called her to be a "woman of war," teaching her to win battles by "loving" and "forgiving," not with "carnal weapons." Her greatest treasure became her relationship with God.

Jaime, in the midst of his financial and emotional ruin, and Liliana, in her healing process, were welcomed at Dunklin Memorial Camp, a camp for addicts founded by Brother Mickey Evans. There, both went through an intensive process of individual and family restoration. Jaime obtained the title of professional addiction counselor (CAP), although he states that what truly qualifies them is their lived experience of restoration. During their time at Dunklin (two and a half years), they began to translate the program materials into Spanish and felt God's call to bring the hope and treasure they had received to thousands of people.

This calling gave rise to the ministry and the Hay Esperanza restoration program, which today operates through Canaan Church Miami. The program seeks to guide people through a restoration process that transforms lives and families. It focuses on principles such as honesty, removing masks, forgiveness, inner healing, maturity, intimacy with God, and personal responsibility. Their ministry has been influenced by mentors like Brother Mickey Evans and the teachings of authors such as Jack Frost, Jean LaCour, Patrick Carnes, Wendy Maltz, and other experts in addiction and healing.

Jaime and Liliana have embodied the principles and restoration tools they learned and applied in their lives in a series of books and materials.
