Michael Stokes

Michael Stokes, better known as Michael J. from Logy Bay, was born on August 1, 1937, in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He was the first of seven children born to him. His childhood was filled with working on the family farm animals and in the potato gardens on his family property. At the age of 15 years, he set about constructing his own house at Logy Bay.

He later settled in Stephenville, where he was engaged with local community contractors and was associated with community undertakings. It was here in this vibrant town that he married his beautiful Angela Quirk Stokes, and they had four lovely children.

Michael worked as a Union Representative for the Public Service Alliance of Canada for over 45 years while exploring land purchase and residential development prospects.

Despite his busy schedule, he cherished family time and went the extra mile to read bedtime stories to his children every night. His inspiring stories of "The Little Red Bull" had them waiting anxiously for the minutes to pass until the next installment. Michael’s stories didn’t just ignite their imagination; they created fantastic memories that lasted an eternity.
