Christine Devane

Christine Devane grew up an animal lover, collecting lucky elephants that her parents, Joyce and Tony, and grandparents Ginger and Edward would bring back from their trips. As a child she enjoyed reading, especially about animals. After college Christine became a second-grade teacher where she adored story time with her students. It was at this time that she decided to write her own books.

Christine's first published book, Elephant Beach, was inspired by her childhood and growing up shy, a project she pursued to help shy children feel seen. Her second book, Lola and Sophie’s ABC Adventure, drew from her two favorite dogs, her rescue dog Sophie and her chihuahua Lola, introducing the alphabet through playful doggy antics and emphasizing pet adoption. Her third book, Pet Safety with Lola & Sophie, was written to teach children kindness and empathy toward animals while also teaching them safety. Her books have won Mom’s Choice Awards, a Literary Titan Book Award, and Golden Wizard Book Awards. Christine volunteered at the MSPCA Boston and remains a devoted animal advocate.

Christine lives with her husband John and their three children—Joey, Nick, and Adeline and of course Sophie. They enjoy reading together, trips, beach outings, and walks, and they love movie nights, with Sophie’s favorite film being Pets.
