Ryan Stone grew up beneath the red dust skies of country Victoria before serving as a soldier, firefighter, and police officer. Those years on the front line—where danger and tenderness often meet—fuel the taut, image-rich writing that has become his trademark.
He is the author of The Weight of Lost Things (poetry), First In, Last Out (police-dog poems), The Writer’s Furnace series of creative-writing prompt books, along with upcoming releases - Three Lines to the Horizon (an outback haibun journey), and Tales from the Salt Road (flash-fiction fables).
Ryan’s work blends lyrical minimalism with gritty realism, drawing readers into moonlit patrols, dusty ghost towns, and myth-struck highways where crows and snakes wage an ancient war. When he isn’t writing, he’s usually playing basketball with his sons, bushwalking with his dogs or badly strumming a guitar.
