Officer Daniel Herrera, M.S.Ed., is a South Florida native who began his career as an elementary school teacher before joining law enforcement in 2011. He has served as a Road Patrol Officer, Detective, and, since 2017, a School Resource Officer. He is also a Team Leader his agency’s Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Team and holds national certifications as a Tactical Medical Instructor and Active Threat Instructor. Officer Herrera is dedicated to training officers, school staff, and students in emergency preparedness and school safety. He also organizes the annual “Ballin’ for Unity” basketball game to build stronger community/police relations. Outside of work, he enjoys family life, Jiu Jitsu, motorcycles, and spent ten years coaching little league baseball.
