Clive Grinyer is an internationally renowned designer who has led design teams for some of the world's most innovative companies. He was Director of Design and Innovation at the UK Design Council, and Head of Service Design Masters course at the Royal College of Art (RCA). He trains companies and public sector organisations in service design and is a trustee of the Design and Technology Association. He was a trustee of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and is Visiting Professor at Glasgow School or Art.
Clive writes and talks at international conferences and has been featured in many podcasts talking about design as a process that solves problems for business and society. Design humanises technology, helps businesses discover what their customers want, and shows how organisations can develop sustainable products and services. Creative Review described Clive as "a passionate advocate for the transformational potential of design for some three decades. Today's focus on the value of digital product design and on design's value in leading customer experience in the UK is, in a large part, due to his work.
His first book was "Smart Design, Products That Change our Lives", His most recent book 'Redesigning Thinking" with a foreword by Lord John Bird, was published in June 2025 and was finalist in the American Best Book Awards Business category and Goody Business Books Award 2025 in the Problem Solving category.
