I was born in Albion, Michigan. My mother showed me how faith was about openness and wonder to an infinite Divine. My father was an art professor who taught me to see beauty in the world and to appreciate art. My church taught me that faith called us to respond to the world, yearning for a common good for all. I was involved in the Civil Rights and Anti-War movements of the sixties and beyond. Following graduating from the University of Michigan, I taught English in Bucaramanga, Colombia. I married a Peace Corps volunteer and traveled through Europe for five months. We moved to Northern Michigan where I taught fifth grade, had our daughter, and began making art of the native plants of the area. We lived in Seattle for two years and then returned to Northern Michigan where I continued my art and worked as a Christian Education director. We moved to Minneapolis while I attended seminary and then to Massachusetts where I served a UCC church for ten years. Now we live in Hyde Park, New York where I continue to make art, occasionally preach, and work for peace.
