Andy Grogan grew up in Britain, where his parents' stories of survival and secrecy planted the seeds for the narratives he'd spend the next fifty years exploring. He studied design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and education at Hull University, credentials that shaped how he thinks about the architecture of stories—what information is revealed when, and how readers navigate meaning. He's lived and worked in England, Amsterdam, and New York, absorbing the particular character of each place. He's been married for decades, raised four kids, plays bass badly but with commitment, speaks Dutch, and is wrestling his way through French as a beginner. His first novel, 1939: The Chronicles of Rishaan Finch, was published in 2010; since then he's written novels about artificial consciousness, vampire detectives in Amsterdam, virtual warfare, artists lost to history, and imagined timelines where America never broke free. His writing circles back to the questions that drew him to design in the first place: how people navigate complex systems, what gets lost in translation, and what happens when the stories we tell ourselves collide with the truth. He lives in Westchester County, New York, and is still working on finishing the next thing.
