Dr. Ghang Lee is an internationally recognized expert in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital construction, renowned for his role as a co-author of the BIM Handbook (4th Edition), one of the most influential publications in the field. He is a Professor at Yonsei University, where he leads the Building Informatics Group, and a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at the Technical University of Munich – Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS).
Dr. Lee's research spans BIM interoperability, information requirement modeling (ISO 29481), AI-integrated construction tools, and digital transformation in the built environment. His team has developed a series of innovative tools, including NADIA, a speech-to-BIM detailing assistant, and systems for AI-powered safety analysis, defect management, design quality checking, and legal document interpretation. He is also the creator of xPPM—a tool that supports the creation and management of information requirements based on idmXML, a formal representation of information delivery manuals (IDMs).
With over 200 academic publications and numerous national and international awards, Dr. Lee has significantly shaped the evolution of digital construction practices worldwide. He also serves in leadership roles in international standardization efforts, including as the Korean representative to ISO's construction information sector.
