Jan Baron

Though Jan has served in many capacities throughout her professional and volunteer careers, her passion for teaching surpasses them all. She’s been an early childhood center director and teacher, a teacher in private and public schools, and a religious schoolteacher for over fifty years. She was also program director of a summer camp, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. Through the years, she has stayed connected with many of her former campers, students, and their parents. It is her joy to see how successful “her kids” have become, how they have raised their own children, and how many are now enjoying grandchildren!

Aside from teaching, Jan was executive director of several not-for-profit organizations in the St. Louis area. She has also taken lead volunteer roles in the community. Currently, she is a staff member working with programming at an adult day center. Through the years, she says she owes her ability to be active in the community to the support and love of her late husband, Richard Baron, and her children. She is proud of their four children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her Shih Tzu, Lily.

She is a graduate of Lindenwood University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education (BS) and Webster University with a master’s degree in education (MAT) with an emphasis on early childhood education. Jan says that whenever she sees a fly on a wall, she looks, listens, and wonders if this one is really her fly on the wall!
