Nizar Ladak

Nizar Ladak has a 33-year career in healthcare and post-secondary education. Having been the President and CEO of two separate organizations, Nizar also held roles as a CIO, COO, and EVP before turning his leadership lessons into literary guidance in his first book: The Power of Scars – My Journey from Refugee to CEO.

A Ugandan refugee, Nizar earned an M.Ed and went on to become Adjunct Lecturer at his alma mater the University of Toronto (U of T). Nizar is currently Board Chair of the Touchstone Institute, Board Director at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons and has held various Board roles in several organizations over the past 15 years.

Winner of Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants and U of T’s Leaders and Legends Distinguished Service Award, the maxim that has guided Nizar’s life is a “Rising Tide Lifts all Boats”. Nizar lives in Toronto with his wife, two daughters.
