Mat Brooks

Mat Brooks is a filmmaker, writer and one third of the Talking Bottom podcast, which takes Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson’s BBC sitcom Bottom far more seriously than anyone sensible should. He is co-author of Talking Bottom: A Guide To The Cult Sitcom (2025), an episode-by-episode analysis exploring the show’s craft and themes, from class rage and masculinity to nihilism and the mechanics of farce, supported by exclusive interviews with cast and crew. Mat has worked in film and television production on projects including Marvel and Star Wars, and in 2016 shot and edited multimedia content for Richard Gadd’s Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning show Monkey See Monkey Do.
