Fred van 't Ent

Hello! I'm Fred van 't Ent (1978), married, father of two spirited daughters, and an experienced teacher, writer, and politically engaged voice. I’ve appeared on national television, published two real books, and been interviewed multiple times, but enough with the boring résumé stuff...

Let me tell you why I wrote this book and the Finn Carter book series. I see the direction this world is heading. And I know I’m far from the only one. For years, I’ve been part of a community that thinks differently. The skeptics. The ones who don’t just accept everything they’re told. The ones who ask big questions: was COVID-19 really what they claimed? What exactly happened on 9/11? How do wars conveniently start at just the right time for those in power?

If you’ve ever felt that quiet doubt, that sense that things aren’t quite what they seem, then you know the feeling.

Like many in our community, I wanted to share what I believe is happening. But I knew that if I did it wrong, people would tune me out. You see it all the time—someone explains something important, but instead of listening, people just nod and move on. And once they stop listening, nothing changes. So, I took a different approach. Before this thriller, I wrote two books on politics and current events. They were well-received, but did they truly reach people the way I hoped? Probably not. Politics feels distant, noisy, and easy to ignore. That’s why I turned to fiction, to pull people in, make them stop and think. And so, this trilogy was born.

I hope this book did that for you—kept you engaged, made you reflect, maybe even uneasy at times. Because the world it describes isn’t just a thought experiment. It’s a version of our future that could very well happen if governments and corporations stay on this path. And when that future arrives, it won’t just affect politics... It will affect our families, relationships, and freedom. This book isn’t just about surveillance, control, and AI as abstract ideas. It’s about how they shape lives. I wanted to explore what it would feel like to live under that kind of system, how it would affect families, friendships, and love itself.

I don’t believe one book can change the world. But if it sparks something in even a few people, if it makes them rethink where we’re heading—then that’s already something. I want this trilogy to reach as many people as possible. Not just because of sales (though I don’t mind sales), but because these conversations matter. We don’t talk enough about the real impact of social media, AI, and digital surveillance. And even when we do, it’s often a passing thought before life moves on.

That’s the real danger. Most people’s awareness of these issues is shallow, making them easy to ignore. But these forces will shape every aspect of our lives: our choices, our futures. I hope this book made you think. And if it did, I hope you’ll continue the journey with Behind the Curtain of Control, available on Amazon.

Thank you for reading the first installment of the Finn Carter Trilogy. Your time and support mean the world.
