Bruce Junior West

Author Bruce Junior West's deeply contemplative musings on the causes of war and its effects on everyone it touches led him to write Auspicious Journey — The Gift of Peace In A Time of War, and now Summer of Love — The Return.

A kind reader provided the following comments:

"In these two books the author speaks to the reader in a way that opens both the heart and the eyes and causes us to see and think beyond the structures and definitions that keep us in unproductive loops and perceptions."

Auspicious Journey describes the author's relationships with his Vietnamese teachers and friends who "opened the door to Asia" for him, where, "it was not just different, in many cases it was, indeed, the opposite."

Summer of Love describes an often solitary spiritual and philosophical search for understanding and peace in the wilderness of the mountains and beaches of the place he calls home.

In the author’s own words:

"If I believe in a world of cause and effect, as opposed to random chaos, then I must believe there has to be some larger reason for this or any war. Because of the great suffering of the old ones, the women, and the children, and all the men and women at war who died then and are still dying, that reason, the real cause, the Why must somehow carry equal weight in the sands of time.

"And then while writing Summer of Love, the elixir I had carried home in my guts finally rose to the surface - that one simple truth I had been searching for from the first time I had heard it where the trails met by the graveyard so many years ago, Luong.

"I have no religion - everything is sacred."
