Richard Odell

Born on the outskirts of London, Richard Odell grew up with an imagination that far outpaced his academic results. His childhood playground was the abandoned nurseries that once supplied the city markets—an overgrown sprawl of forgotten greenhouses and hidden corners where storytelling became second nature.

Early influences shaped his distinctive voice: the sharp humour of Dave Allen, Tom Sharpe, and Douglas Adams. A lifelong fan of science fiction, he was part of the first generation to experience Star Trek and Star Wars as they unfolded, and he tuned in to the first-ever radio broadcast of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy—a cult classic that still lives rent-free in his mind today.

Now semi-retired, Richard lives on the south coast of England, where country air and quiet evenings provide the perfect backdrop for storytelling. His work explores imagination, memory, and the unseen forces that shape our world.
