Simon J. Frankel is a Judge of the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, and a lecturer at Stanford Law School, where he teaches Art and the Law. He has spoken and published widely on issues concerning art and law and previously served as a commissioner on the San Francisco Arts Commission. Before becoming a judge, he practiced law in San Francisco for 28 years, handling numerous landmark cases in the areas of copyright, trademark, and art and cultural property law. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Cambridge University (M.Phil.), and Yale Law School.
