Meet Ki-Jana Thomas — Father, Author, and the Heart Behind the "And Baby" Series

Ki-Jana Thomas discovered his passion for writing children’s books after the birth of his son, Karter. Becoming a father opened his eyes to the magic of everyday moments — the laughter, the challenges, the milestones — and inspired him to capture those memories through storytelling. That’s how the “And Baby” series was born.

Through books like Black, Beautiful & Baby and Black, Puerto Rican & Baby, Ki-Jana creates heartwarming stories that celebrate identity, culture, and confidence. His mission is to fill the shelves with stories that reflect the beauty of every child — especially those who have been underrepresented for too long.

But these books aren’t just for families of color — they’re for everyone. Ki-Jana believes that through stories, we can all learn to love ourselves and better understand each other. His writing is a bridge — teaching children to embrace who they are while inspiring families to celebrate the uniqueness in others.
