Jeanine DeHoney knew she wanted to be a writer since the age of seven.
Thanks to her late mother, she was given a plethora of notebooks to write her stories in. Fast forward many years later, her stories, essays and articles can be found online in Literary Mama, MER, Brain Child Magazine, Scary Mommy, Devozine, Today's Teen for Parents, Sisters AARP, and Mahogany, to name a few. Her work is also featured in magazines such as Essence, Today's Black Woman, Skipping Stones, and Australia's The School Magazine, among others. Jeanine is an essayist in several anthologies including the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Zora's Den, and anthologies from Black Lawrence Press, BLF Press, and Black Freighter Press. Jeanine's work has won or been shortlisted in several literary contests including The Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival Brooklyn Nonfiction Prize and Australia's Voices of Women Embellishment contest.
