Dr Jen Swanston is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children and young people. Jen set up White Oaks Psychology service with Sharon Swanston in January 2025 and is the Clinical Director at White Oaks. Jen is the co-author of the Compassionate Parenting Workbook and is passionate about bringing compassion focused thinking to all areas of child development.
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist over 13 years ago, Jen has worked both within the NHS as a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist and in private practice, setting up and running neuro-developmental services. Jen specialises in Autism and ADHD (diagnosis and intervention) and also supporting young people with a variety of complex mental health difficulties (anxiety, trauma, OCD, depression). Jen also provides parenting support, using a variety of evidence-based approaches. Jen has completed training in various Autism and ADHD diagnostic measures including the DISCO, DIVA, ADOS and QB Check.
Jen is also highly trained in many therapeutic models including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Jen has co-authored books and research papers in her area of specialism and was a guest lecturer on the Oxford Doctorate Course.
