Robert Bird is a Professor of Business Law and the Eversource Energy Chair in Business Ethics at the University of Connecticut. An author of over eighty publications, Robert's expertise focuses on how legal knowledge can be a source of strategic value to organizations. His work is of special interest to in-house counsel, compliance professionals, lawyers and law firms, and managers who are subject to significant legal regulation. Robert's book "Legal Knowledge in Organizations: A Source of Strategic and Competitive Advantage,” is published by Cambridge University Press in 2025.
Robert's scholarly expertise focuses on compliance, legal strategy, ethics, and employment law. Robert has authored over eighty publications, including articles in the Journal of Law and Economics, American Business Law Journal, the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and the MIT Sloan Management Review. Robert was editor in chief of the American Business Law Journal and President of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
