Adrianne Dyer

Adrianne Dyer was born and raised in New Mexico. She later moved to Washington state, where she lived for thirty-three years. She attended Western Washington University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation with a minor in Political Science. She later earned her master’s in pastoral studies from Seattle University, School of Theology and Ministry.

She has worked in education for twenty years in both the private and public sectors for primary and secondary education. She is a medical spiritual care provider/chaplain and spiritual companion/director. She is involved with SEEL Puget Sound, Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life, where she serves as a spiritual companion and formation leader.

She is a Roman Catholic who holds to the universal catholic expression and whose spirituality has been fashioned by Ursuline, Franciscan, Carmelite, Jesuit, and Benedictine monastic traditions. She cultivates a mystic spirit, and her inner monk is woven into everyday life. She holds the belief that writing and listening to stories can provide an aspect of healing. Stories can embody a holistic expression as they integrate the inner and outer world together through experiences, metaphors, and images. Lessons and insights within a story can provide restoration and transformation.

She first published an article in ASRA Pain Medicine on “Integrating Spiritual Care in an Acute Pain Service,” on July 17, 2018. Later, her poems and writings were posted on Facebook via Holy Disorder of Dancing Monk. She has had a reflection published in Abbey of the Arts: Transformative Living Through Contemplative and Expressive Arts newsletter, Monk in the World Guest Post, January 2024.

She is married to Kale Dyer and together they have two sons. Currently, Adrianne splits her time between Colorado Springs and Japan, where she and her husband serve military families stationed abroad. She enjoys outdoor activities, reading, writing, quilting, and spending time with family and friends.
