Dr. Ralph “Defender” Morales, PhD, MBA, completed professional training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), recognized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). His background blends academic excellence, clinical understanding, and compassionate advocacy to empower autistic children and their families through education, empathy, and science-based practice.
A proud veteran of Force Protection, Dr. Morales earned the codename “Defender” as a reflection of his lifelong commitment to protecting others. Today, that same spirit fuels his mission to defend, uplift, and amplify the voices of children on the autism spectrum—especially those who communicate in unique and powerful ways.
Inspired by his autistic son, Alexander “Alex,” Dr. Morales became a passionate advocate for communication, inclusion, and representation. His debut children’s book, Spend A Day With Alex—also available in Spanish as ¡Pasa un Día con Alex!—became an Amazon #1 Best Seller in Children’s Fiction and was featured in Autism Parenting Magazine.
Building on this impact, Dr. Morales expanded his mission with his second book, Alex, His Family and Yours: Together We Can (Alex, Su Familia y La Tuya: ¡Juntos Podemos!). This powerful continuation emphasizes unity, showing how families and communities can come together to support autistic children through empathy, structure, and teamwork.
Both of Dr. Morales’ books have also been featured in Your Autism Magazine by the National Autistic Society, marking another major international publication milestone. Most recently, Dr. Morales was featured in Stars & Stripes Europe for his article highlighting the realities of raising an autistic child overseas as a military family. Through this platform, he continues reaching and supporting military and EFMP families worldwide by sharing stories of resilience, advocacy, inclusion, and hope.
Dr. Morales writes from the heart, inspired every day by his autistic son and their family’s journey. Although the puzzle piece has a complicated history for some in the autistic community, he sees it through a different lens. For him, the puzzle represents inclusion—a reminder that every person is an essential part of a larger picture. Without one piece, the puzzle is not complete; just like our communities, without harmony, they are not whole. No person is left behind. Every piece matters, every connection matters, and embracing the puzzle in a positive way reflects his belief in the value and beauty within all of us. He respects the diverse perspectives surrounding the symbol and remains committed to listening, learning, and uplifting autistic voices.
Through his books, public speaking, and international advocacy, Dr. Morales bridges academic insight, ABA principles, and heartfelt storytelling. His message remains simple yet powerful: every voice matters—and with love, patience, understanding, and science, those voices can be heard.
