I am a life-long educator, creative, and textile enthusiast. Clothing repair exists at the center of these interests and has been part of my daily life since 2012. I have taught embroidery and garment repair classes, co-organized hand sewing creative groups building community through craft, and volunteered to sort donated clothing with a non-profit organization to learn more about the impact of clothing waste on the world.

In 2020, I started an annual seasonal project called Winter of Care and Repair, during which I mend, tend, or otherwise maintain something in my home (usually clothing) every day between the winter solstice and spring equinox; now people around the globe participate each winter in their own way.

I'm American, and currently live in Spain with my husband on a long-term sabbatical from my career as a speech-language pathologist. I draw on my work experience in health care and education to inform my approach to teaching repair skills.
