J. Anthony Hart

J. (as in John) Anthony Hart was born in Ohio sometime in the 20th century, although when asked his true age he usually responds with the classic line from "It's a Wonderful Life!": as old as his tongue and slightly older than his teeth. He grew up in Silicon Valley, attended Santa Clara High School, West Valley Community College (where he was editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper) and eventually graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in communications studies. He currently lives in the Sacramento region where he works for a pharmacy benefits administration company as a technical writer.

John has three all-consuming passions in his life: writing, musical theater, and Hawai'i. His first self-published novel, "Secrets of a Hawaiian Mermaid" combines two of those passions, especially since the novel is his love letter to the town of Lahaina which was his home away from home prior to the tragic fire that destroyed it. As for musical theater, he is active with Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento and has appeared in productions of "Iolanthe", "Trial By Jury", "Pirates of Penzance", "The Sorcerer", "Ruddigore", "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and "Four Lost Santas". Prior to moving to Sacramento he appeared with Bay Area community theater companies performing "The Gondoliers", "1776", "Camelot", "The Music Man", "La Perichole" and "Carousel." He also tried his hand at assistant directing "Brigadoon" and stage directing the world premiere of the restored score for "The Mountebanks."
