Cynthia Vaughn

Cynthia Vaughn is a respected voice teacher, author, and presenter. She is best known as co-author with Meribeth Dayme of The Singing Book, the leading group-voice textbook/song anthology for beginning and intermediate singers. The new fourth edition of The Singing Book (edited by Matthew Hoch) was published by Rowman & Littlefield/Bloomsbury and National Association of Teachers of Singing in 2024. Cynthia Vaughn and Matthew Hoch edited and compiled The Essentials of CoreSinging: A Joyful Approach to Singing and Voice Pedagogy by Meribeth Dayme (1938-2019), Rowman & Littlefield, 2022. Vaughn was an invited contributor to The Voice Teachers Cookbook: Essential Recipes for Teachers of Singing. Meredith Music Publishing, 2018. Since 2018 Cynthia Vaughn has been associate editor for Independent Voices for National Association of Teachers of Singing biannual member publication, Inter Nos. Previously she was a writer and assistant editor for Classical Singer Magazine. Her writing can also be found on Substack (Singing in the Key of Me). A Colorado native, Cynthia currently lives in Virginia with her husband and two tuxedo cats, Figaro and Magnolia.
