Meet the Author – Asaf Amit

Born in a quiet village in rural Israel, Asaf Amit’s life was forever changed at the age of eleven, when a devastating car accident took the lives of his father and younger brother and left him severely injured. In the aftermath of this tragedy, he found solace in painting and writing—creative outlets that helped him process the trauma that shaped his early years.

Asaf went on to study product design and later trained as a practical engineer in architecture. For nearly two decades, he has worked as a residential architect while privately navigating the long shadows of PTSD. In recent years, he turned to fiction as a deeper form of expression. His debut novel, The Shine of Sorrowful Youth, is a lyrical meditation on memory, grief, and the enduring imprint of childhood loss.

He now lives with his wife and three sons in Lexington, Massachusetts, where he is at work on his next novel.
