Jack Chase

Jack Chase is an American novelist, screenwriter, filmmaker, and graphic designer. He is the founder of Abbycat Group & Publishing Brands, an independent publishing and intellectual-property studio established in 2025.

Chase is the author of “Made in America: or The Tragedy of Billy Castle and Unexpected Absolution of Dean Willis” (2025), “The Bastard of Taylor’s End” (2025), “Violent Crimes: The Butcher of Westchester” (2025), “Jokes About Suicide” (2026), and “The Schultz Brothers: An American Crime Saga” (2026), among other works spanning crime fiction, psychological drama, horror, black comedy, and historical fiction.

His writing is characterized by a cinematic approach to literary fiction, combining atmospheric prose and psychological interiority with the pacing, blocking, and visual construction of screen drama. His background in screenwriting has informed both his fiction and his development of original material across publishing, film, and television.

“Made in America,” which was submitted for Pulitzer® Prize consideration, follows the intersecting lives of Billy Castle, Archer Stone, and Dean Willis through a multigenerational New York crime story centered on power, ambition, inheritance, and trauma. Chase subsequently turned to historical fiction with “The Bastard of Taylor’s End,” an alternate-history revenge epic set in seventeenth-century England and structured around “The Dragon & The Prince,” a play-within-a-play written in period-accurate diction that runs parallel to the novel’s five-act narrative.

In 2026, Chase published “Jokes About Suicide,” a black comedy-drama about a New York comedian confronting a terminal diagnosis, followed by “The Schultz Brothers: An American Crime Saga,” the first novel in a planned four-volume series about New York bank robbers hiding out in Los Angeles whose attempt at a fresh start collapses after they rob a Beverly Hills jewelry store connected to the New Jersey mob, putting them back on the radar of both organized crime and federal law enforcement.

Chase develops his novels, screenplays, and related properties through Abbycat Group, with an emphasis on author-owned intellectual property conceived for both literary and screen formats. His forthcoming novels include “Bears in Winter,” the second installment in “The Schultz Brothers” series; “Overtime 2: Buenos Aires”; “Violent Crimes 2: Black Butterfly”; and “She’s Still Here,” a psychological drama spanning several decades.

Chase is also developing “Camp Doom,” a psychological horror film adapted from his own fiction. The story originated in a collection published pseudonymously before being substantially expanded and published separately under its own title. The screen adaptation continues Chase’s broader practice of developing original properties across literary and cinematic forms.

Chase lives in Southern California with his tortoiseshell cat, Mulan. He welcomed a daughter in December 2025.
