Mitch White writes murder mysteries, cozy and otherwise, as well as science fiction and fantasy novels. His works can be read via the Kindle platform (tablets and computers), and will soon be available in print.
Mitch White grew up reading the greats of his time in science fiction, fantasy, action-adventure, and mystery. These stories encouraged Mitch to try his hand at writing while in graduate school, where he was fortunate enough to take creative writing courses led by Orson Scott Card. The demands of school and family prevented Mitch from publishing, though the “writer’s bug” never left his soul.
Working through school found Mitch in roles from ditch-digging to nuclear non-destructive testing, mixologist to prep cook for a dorm of 1,200 students. All these experiences provided incentive to finish a doctorate in chemistry, with other degrees gathered along the way.
A rewarding career in science and technology and a gratifying family life left little time to write until retirement appeared on the horizon. Traveling the world as a consultant scientist and engineer provided exposure to and appreciation of many cultures. Nothing broadens one’s perspective quite like travel, and Mitch’s experiences in other lands inform his interests and prose.
Mitch also taught as a visiting professor in the sciences at several universities. He provided technical training in semiconductor and computer manufacturing, process optimization, quality improvement, and statistics to over 20,000 attendees on five continents.
Avocations pursued through the years include cooking, mixology, chess, travel, photography, fostering Golden Retrievers, and recreational computing.
Somewhere in all this chaos, Mitch found time for family, raising a daughter and now spoiling a granddaughter.
During retirement, Mitch performs as a professional musician when not writing. Mitch finds that these two avocations cooperate well, and he looks forward to years of fun, creative endeavors.
He lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas, very close to the center of the universe.
