Mark Toohey

Mark Toohey was born and raised in Sydney to a family where sport and music were a must, before making a home in the remote town of Yakutat Alaska. Here he developed a love of oral history and stories which set him travelling over a number of years, staying with communities throughout Central America down to the Amazonian Rivers. He lists his proudest moment as when the Teikweidi clan gifted the Luknahaadi a totem pole at a Tlingit Nation xoo eek ceremony, and he was included with his son to help carry the totem through Yakutat.
