Stephen Lowy

Steve has been immersed in the hospitality and tourism industry for his entire career. From managing a restaurant in London in his late teens to studying Hospitality and Tourism at the University of Salford, his passion for the sector has only grown over the years.

As CEO of AES, The Residence Apartments, and Jitaku, Steve leads businesses that span education, accommodation, and hospitality. AES is a full-service education abroad operator, offering a suite of academic services alongside a portfolio of over 275 student apartments in Central London. The award-winning Residence Apartments is a collection of 100 luxury serviced apartments located in Marylebone, Shoreditch, Tower Hill, Hoxton, and Kensington. AES has also expanded through partnerships in Buenos Aires, Dublin, and New York, extending its global reach.

Looking ahead, The Residence is set to launch its first aparthotel under the brand Jitaku in Autumn 2025, further enhancing its footprint in London’s hospitality landscape.

Beyond his executive roles, Steve is deeply involved in industry advocacy and leadership. He serves as Chairman of BETA (British Educational Travel Association), is a Board Member of the Tourism Alliance, a Trustee of the Savoy Educational Trust, and is the former Chairman of ASAP (Association of Serviced Apartment Providers).

A passionate advocate for engaging young people in the industry, Steve believes in the power of travel as a force for good—especially in today’s complex global landscape. An avid traveller and enthusiastic cook, he continues to champion hospitality, tourism, and educational travel as transformative industries that bridge cultures and create lasting opportunities.
