Yang-May Ooi

Yang-May Ooi is a cross-cultural author and advocate. She is Chinese by heritage, Malaysian by birth and British by choice.

She believes passionately that personal stories are universal to all of us, whatever our background or culture. Her creative work emerges from her experience as a first generation migrant to the UK and is infused with her signature cross-cultural perspective.

Her books include internationally acclaimed novels The Flame Tree and Mindgame (Hodder & Stoughton; Monsoon Books) and an award-nominated business book International Communications Strategy (Kogan Page).

She has also written and performed in the five star solo theatre play of Bound Feet Blues – A Life Told in Shoes (Tristan Bates Theatre), and published a family memoir of the same name (Urbane Publications).

She also hosts podcasts on creativity, (Creative Conversations) anxiety (The Anxiety Advantage) and climate matters (MetroWild) - all of which can be found on Spotify and wherever you listen to podcasts.
