Ángelo Pietra Rojas is a Chilean Commercial Pilot, Doctor in Education, Master in Clinical and Experimental Neurosciences, and Master in Neuropsychology, with additional postgraduate studies in the field of education. His professional career focuses on the interaction of children, adolescents, and adults with neurocognitive processes, decision-making under high-pressure environments, and human factors in aviation. With a unique combination of academic expertise and operational experience, he has developed a comprehensive approach that applies neuroscience principles to optimize airmanship, situational awareness, and risk management in complex aviation scenarios.
As an author and researcher, he has published several works analyzing how the human brain processes information and makes critical decisions in the cockpit. His books, including Neuroscience for Pilots, Building Airmanship, Airmanship and Neurosciences, and Mind in Flight, are grounded in real cases and based on ICAO-defined competencies. They offer deep insight into collaborative decision-making, threat and error management (TEM), and the evaluation of cognitive and neuropsychological performance in modern aviation.
He currently leads training programs in neuropsychology and human factors applied to aviation safety. He lives in Chile, writes by hand in black notebooks, and believes that true flight begins within oneself. He specializes in neuropsychological assessment and supervises doctoral research projects in psychology within the Latin American context. Additionally, he is writing several new books focused on the psychology of airmanship, error management, and the impact of neuroscience on aviation.
His experience as a pilot allows him to bring a practical perspective to his research, integrating the latest advances in neuroscience with pilot training and operational safety management. His work is aimed at aviation professionals, applied neuroscientists, and psychologists, providing concrete tools to enhance cognitive performance and decision-making in critical situations.
